Haegue Yang participates in Reconstruction of Story 5: Polyphony, the Imaginary of ‘I,’ a Film & Video program held at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (hereafter MMCA) from June 14 to July 16, 2017. Launched in June 2016 as a long-term film and video screening program, the Reconstruction of Story series concludes with Reconstruction of Story 5: Polyphony, the Imaginary of ‘I’. The program will include Unfolding Places (2004), Restrained Courage (2004), and Squandering Negative Spaces (2006), a video trilogy by Yang along with Holiday Story, a film produced in 2007. The trilogy experiments with the relationship between voices and images in a travel epic format, and displays ambiguous landscape images where the idle thoughts of a drifting traveler are transmitted through voiceovers that reflect the gap between the self and urban spaces. During the program, a total of 20 films will be screened 29 times, and an artist talk with Haegue Yang will be held on June 15 at 4PM.
