국제갤러리의 아니쉬 카푸어와 줄리안 오피는 영국 동남부 도시 이스트본의 Towner Art Gallery에서 1월 21일부터 5월 7일까지 개최되는 그룹전 <A Certain Kind of Light>에 참여한다. 영국문화예술위원회 소장품 국립협력프로그램 (Arts Council Collection National Partners Programme)의 일환으로, Towner Art Gallery의 학예팀이 영국문화예술위원회의 소장품 중에서 직접 기획하여 빛의 물질성, 순간성, 효과를 주제로 다루는 약 30여명의 작가들의 작품이 소개된다. 1960년대부터 현재까지 제작된 회화, 조각, 영상, 사진, 드로잉 및 설치작품들은 빛의 밝기, 색, 변화, 에너지, 그리고 시간의 흐름 등을 담아낸다. 줄리안 오피는 인공조명을 주 재료로 활용한 설치작업 <Indirect Lighting (1989)>을 선보이며, 아니쉬 카푸어는 빛을 조종, 흡수, 반사하여 주변공간을 변모시키는 조각 <Untitled (1995)> 전시한다. 

Anish Kapoor and Julian Opie will participate in A Certain Kind of Light, a group exhibition taking place from January 21 to May 7 at the Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne, UK. This major new Arts Council Collection National Partners Programme exhibition, curated by the Towner Art Gallery, explores thirty artists’ responses to light, including its materiality, transience and effect. The exhibition brings together paintings, sculptures, videos, photography, drawings, and installations from the 1960s to the present day. These works exhibit the relationship between light and themes ranging from brightness, color and perception to transformation, energy and the passage of time. Julian Opie will display Indirect Lighting (1989), an installation that uses artificial light as a source of illumination and as primary artistic material, and Anish Kapoor will exhibit Untitled (1995), a sculpture work that harnesses and absorbs light to activate the surrounding space.
