김기라 작가는 2012년 12월 17일부터 2013년 1월 30일까지 포스코에서 개최되는 특별 야외 전시 <NEWLY, DAILY, TRULY>에 참여한다. 기업과 작가와의 협업으로 기획된 이번 전시는 김기라 외 이동기, 한요한 등 젊은 작가들로 구성되어 다양한 장르의 설치 작품들을 선보인다. 김기라 작가는 이번 전시를 통해 8m 높이의 철골 구조물에 1,000여 개에 달하는 LED 조명을 설치한 <The Light_ Only 4U>를 선보인다. 이 작품은 현대적이고 대중적으로 친숙한 이미지의 크리스마스 트리를 재현한 설치 작업으로, LED 조명으로 이루어진 'Super Go Go', 'LOVE U', '4EVER' 등의 경구를 통해 대중들에게 나눔, 위안, 격려와 같은 ‘소통’의 메시지를 전한다.

Kukje Gallery is pleased to announce Kira Kim’s participation in a special outdoor exhibition ‘NEWLY, DAILY, TRULY’ at Posco center in Seoul, from December 17, 2012 through January 30, 2013. This collaborative exhibition between a corporation and artists provide a unique opportunity to view an array of installations in diverse mediums. The participating artists include Kira Kim, Lee Dong-Ki and Han Yohan. For this occasion, Kira Kim will introduce his recent LED work The Light_Only 4U, an 8-meter steel construction installed with over a thousand LED light bulbs. Reproducing the popular and iconic imagery of a Christmas tree, the installation successfully conveys messages of ‘communication,’ whether it be to share, comfort, or to encourage the viewers, through the use of LED lighted texts such as ‘Super Go Go,’ ‘LOVE U’ and ‘4EVER.’
